PLOFLON® PTFE - lightweight, non-flammable and resilient
PTFE is a high-performance material that excels in aviation both mechanically and thermally. It is temperature-stable from well below zero to over 250 °C. °C, flame-retardant (in accordance with UL94 V-0) and resistant to fuels, hydraulic oils and solvents. At the same time, PTFE is very light, which makes it particularly interesting for weight concepts in aviation.
Thanks to its low friction and non-stick effect, PTFE is ideal for moving components and dirt-sensitive areas. It protects components from wear, deposits and unnecessary friction - while minimising the amount of material used.
Sliding and sealing applications in mechanical systems
PLOFLON® PTFE adhesive tapes and sliding films are used in various mechanical areas - for example in cabin mechanics, seat adjusters, luggage compartments or door systems. PTFE also reduces friction in connecting elements, bearing seats or guide rails and ensures long-lasting ease of movement.
The products are easy to apply and hold reliably even under changing pressure and temperature conditions. In practice, this means less wear, less maintenance and consistent function over the entire life cycle.
Protective coatings for cabling and electronic systems
Hundreds of metres of electrical cables are installed in modern aircraft - many of which run through narrow, mechanically stressed areas. PTFE films and sheaths from PLOFLON® are used in these areas as a separating layer, insulator or abrasion protection.
The high dielectric strength and temperature stability make PLOFLON® PTFE films a reliable protective material, even after many years of use. At the same time, they contribute to overall efficiency thanks to their low weight and low installation height.
Customised PTFE components - a perfect fit for aviation technology
Many components in aircraft construction are highly specialised. PLOFLON® therefore manufactures special PTFE parts according to drawings or 3D data - such as sealing discs, sliding bushes, spacers or low-friction coating elements. These components can be precisely customised to geometry, tolerances and thermal loads.
Special requirements such as antistatic properties, reinforced fillers or structured surfaces can be taken into account if required. Smaller series or individual parts for prototypes or maintenance measures are also possible.
Material for lightweight construction and long service life
PLOFLON® PTFE supports the aviation industry in lightweight construction. Weight and complexity can be reduced by replacing heavier metal parts or complex plain bearings. At the same time, the material contributes to operational safety as it hardly ages, does not corrode and does not require regular lubrication.
These properties are particularly advantageous for systems with limited access - for example in the wings, near the engine or behind panelling.
