PLOFLON® PTFE - resistant to water, friction and corrosion

PTFE is water-repellent, almost chemically inert and has very low friction. It does not rust, does not swell and hardly changes even under high pressure. These properties make the material ideal for moving, sliding or sealing applications on ships.

Compared to metal or rubber-based solutions, PTFE is significantly more resistant to corrosion and deposits. It requires no lubrication, is UV-stable and shows no material fatigue even after prolonged contact with seawater.

Sliding surfaces and protective layers in deck mechanics and superstructure

PLOFLON®  supplies PTFE adhesive tapes and films that are used as plain bearings or friction reducers on moving ship parts. Typical applications include doors, flaps, hinges, hatches and telescopic arms. The tapes also improve the manoeuvrability of cable guides, roller mechanisms and winches and reduce wear.

PLOFLON® PTFE films and interlayers in technical equipment

PLOFLON® PTFE films are used as separating layers, insulators or sealing materials in engine rooms, supply systems or electrical installations on ships. They can withstand high temperatures, are flame-retardant and provide reliable insulation against electricity and chemicals.

They offer long-lasting protection, especially for sensitive components such as pumps, sensors, switch cabinets or drive units. PTFE seals are also used in hydraulic or pneumatic systems, as they are resistant to oils, fuels and aggressive media.
